Visa requirement introduced for Trinidad and Tobago
From 12 May 2025 nationals of Trinidad and Tobago need an Irish visa before travelling, and a transit visa to pass through the State.
Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago have required an Irish visa to travel to the State since 12 May 2025. A transit visa is also required when passing through Ireland to another destination.
Transitional arrangements
A transitional arrangement covered people who had booked and paid for travel before the change and were travelling on or before 31 May 2025. Emergency travel requests were directed to Immigration Service Delivery by email, using the specified subject line.
That arrangement has expired.
Planning travel and recruitment
This was the second visa requirement introduced in 2025, following the change for Eswatini, Lesotho and Nauru in March. Employers recruiting nationals of Trinidad and Tobago now need to allow for a visa application before travel. The requirement also affects family members travelling to visit relatives in Ireland.
A visa is required for all travel purposes, including short visits.
