Multi-factor authentication now required for the ISD portal
From 7 August 2026 every login to the Immigration Service Delivery Customer Service Portal needs an authenticator app.
From 7 August 2026, all users must use multi-factor authentication each time they sign in to the Immigration Service Delivery Customer Service Portal at portal.irishimmigration.ie.
What you need
You need Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator, both of which are free. Install the app and link it to your portal account, then enter a code from the app each time you sign in.
Prepare before your renewal
The portal is used to submit online renewals and check application status. Set up the authenticator app in advance so that you can access your account when a renewal is due.
Use a phone you expect to keep. If you change phones, transfer the authenticator before replacing the old device to avoid losing access to your account.
