Student finance requirement rises for non-visa nationals
From 30 June 2025 non-visa-required students on one-year courses must show access to €10,000, matching the requirement for visa-required students.
From 30 June 2025 the financial requirement for non-visa-required students registering in the State rose to match the standard already applied to visa-required nationals.
Required funds
For a course of one year, a non-visa-required national must show access to €10,000. For courses of six to eight months, both visa-required and non-visa-required nationals must show €833 per month — €4,998 for six months, €6,665 for eight.
Immigration Service Delivery described this as the third and final increase in a planned series.
Why it matters at registration
Students must provide evidence of the required funds at registration, including those who did not need a visa to travel to Ireland. Inadequate financial evidence can lead to a refusal of registration.
The funds must be genuinely available to the student. A bank balance in someone else’s name does not, on its own, demonstrate that the student can access the money.
