Children of employment permit holders move to Stamp 1G and gain the right to work
From 26 November 2025 dependent minor children of permit holders are registered on Stamp 1G instead of Stamp 3. Existing Stamp 3 permissions were varied automatically.
Dependent minor children of employment permit holders who have been granted family reunification are now registered on Stamp 1G, which permits employment, in place of Stamp 3, which does not.
The change took effect on 26 November 2025 following the review of the Non-EEA Family Reunification Policy.
Who is covered
The change covers dependent minor children of holders of a Critical Skills Employment Permit, a General Employment Permit, an Intra-Corporate Transferee permission or a Hosting Agreement as a researcher.
Existing Stamp 3 permissions
Minor children covered by the change who were already in the State on Stamp 3 had their permission changed automatically to Stamp 1G conditions on 26 November 2025. They did not need an application, registration appointment or new card.
Existing cards continue to show Stamp 3 until renewal. Immigration Service Delivery published a temporary letter confirming the right to work for employers during the transition period, which runs to 26 November 2026.
What to do
Keep the ISD letter with the existing Stamp 3 card so that an employer can verify the right to work until a new card is issued.
